COMPETITION at this year’s Parklife skating event in Soham is set to be fiercer than ever as organisers look to up the ante.
Dozens of skateboarders, bikers and scooters attended the 2012 event, on the town’s recreation ground, where youngsters performed short routines before their efforts were judged and prizes awarded.
Interest in the second instalment, taking place on August 10, has already hit fever pitch among youngsters across the town and there are due to be plenty of exciting new additions to this year’s event.
Cash prizes will be up for grabs for winning routines and plenty of new categories will be added to encourage everyone from age eight upwards to come along and show their stuff.
Professionals from Team Rubicon will be at the event to judge the entrants, offer advice and give a small demonstration.

Last year’s inaugural event started in response to a question from a young person in the town who wanted to know what councillors could do for them.
Registration for the event, which is being run by Soham Heritage and Tourism, costs £2 and all entrants must be wearing appropriate safety equipment. Entrants under 18 must have parental permission to compete.
