For as everyone knows when the weather is fine then you know it’s a sign
for messing about on the river.
Not that the crowd at Roswell Pits today needed much persuasion – for the weather and conditions made it an ideal moment to welcome the curious.
And there were plenty of those taking advantage of a ‘give sailing a go’ afternoon.
There was a good show of youngsters there to see if sailing was for them – and the club had members and supporters on hand to introduce them to the magic of the waterways.
The club afforded a warm welcome to our photographer to take a trip out on the water and to savour the magic of sailing.
The only minor complaint was the absence of wind to test the newbies and give the old handers a chance to display their prowess.
A consolatory burger and pint awaited all new intrepid sailors as they were welcomed back at the club with a barbecue.
