THE sentencing of Soham man Paul Green could not go ahead this week, because he had failed to meet the probation officer allocated to write his pre-sentence report.

Green, 30, of Mill Corner, has admitted assaulting his wife Francine Green in December, and stealing two cans of lager from Ley Stores in Soham on January 3.

Magistrates are also being asked to revoke his curfew order, imposed last December for an offence of common assault, and re-sentence him.

Ely magistrates agreed to adjourn the case for a further three weeks. His bail conditions ban him from Ley Stores, and require him to comply with the probation service.

"We are reluctantly agreeing to adjourn for a further three weeks, but this is your last chance," warned presiding magistrate Maggie Holling.
