ANTI-SOCIAL behaviour is of major concern to the neighbourhood policing team.
We are acutely aware of the damage that anti-social behaviour has on the community.
On a daily basis we are called upon to tackle behaviour of both individuals and groups, behaviour that is having a major impact on the lives of others.
Often offenders are either ignorant of the harm they are causing to people's everyday lives or sometimes they choose to inflict their behaviour on others with total disregard.
Anti-social behaviour takes many forms and activities that, at the correct time of day or location, would not necessarily be seen as anti-social can become so according to the way, time or place that the activity is being conducted.
My team and I highlight issues reported to us, and employ a targeted approach. Acknowledged problems such as the 'Ely boy racers', the Littleport 'mini-moto' users and the Haddenham/Aldreth "off-roaders" can all expect to receive some renewed attention from my team.
Tolerance is important. A group of young people who simply gather in a public place are not necessarily being anti-social. If they set out to intimidate residents or passers-by, that is another matter.
There is a balance that we must strike in order to target the areas where the problems are greatest and not just the areas where one individual complains the loudest.
Please help us by reporting incidents that will allow a true picture to be established.
