ON Friday, the first session of Open Door (described in last week's Ely Standard) was attended by a good number of people, from the immediate neighbourhood and further afield. The coffee (individual cafetieres) was complimented by all, as was the gingerbread by those who sampled it.

During Sunday's service, Ron Greydanus sang Deep Was The Night (composed by his wife Susan, and arranged by Patrick Brandon). This led into a time of prayer for those who wished to 'lay their burdens down at the foot of the cross', as depicted in the song. Many responded.

The pastor's address was a survey of Peter's First Epistle. He looked at the major themes, all centring on 'resurrection power' which transforms the life of a believer.

Sunday service is at 10.30am (including Holy Communion). The pastor will speak about the Spirit and the Word, and how God brings life where there was death.
