Remembrance Sunday Service included the well-known words of Jesus, "Greater love has no man than this, that he lay down his life for his friends." We reflected on the nature of the sacrifices commemorated on this day and that of Jesus Himself, and the fact that his constituted a completed work, whereas, sadly, lives are laid down even yet in the face of conflict. After our act of remembrance, Susan Greydanus was commissioned as our new director of worship. Holy Communion followed. The pastor spoke on Tribalism and Unity, tracing aspects of war to the 'confusing of languages' at the Tower of Babel incident in Genesis. We spent some time considering and discussing issues raised, before closing in prayer.

Sunday service: 10.30 a.m. The speaker will be Anne Linclon, a leader from a sister church in Darwen. She will also speak at an event on Saturday evening called "Music and Message", in which musical items will be followed by her address. All are welcome to our gatherings.
