Children at a nursery in Haddenham benefit from “skilled and knowledgeable” staff who support their learning development.

Inspectors from Ofsted praised Little Ted’s Day Nursery for providing a “secure environment” for children which helped them to make “good progress in all areas of their development”.

The nursery, in Chewells Lane, was rated ‘good’ by the inspection team, who visited late last year.

In her report, Ofsted’s Jacqueline Baker said: “Children are welcomed into a warm and stimulating environment where they find plenty of activities and toys to promote their learning.

“Staff have a good understanding of how children develop and because of this, they successfully provide a wealth of interesting and playful experiences that capture children’s attention.”

There was also praise for management at the nursery, which Ms Baker described as “effective”.

She said: “Leadership of the nursery is strong. The management team understands their responsibilities and have effective procedures in place to monitor both educational programmes and individual children’s progress.

“As a result, children requiring further support are quickly identified and plans are targeted effectively to ensure that interventions have a positive effect on their learning, development and well-being.”

Little Ted’s was opened in 2007 and caters for 64 children.

In order to make the step from good to outstanding, Ofsted said the nursery should encourage parents to be more involved with their children’s learning at home.
