KATHLEEN Zaschke passed away in her sleep on February 18 at Addenbrooke's Hospital in Cambridge, aged 76. Born in Ely on October 12, 1928, to Florence and Albert Canham, Kathleen, younger sister Winifred and two younger brothers Edward and David lived in Nutholt Lane in Ely.

Kathleen married Franz (Jack) Zaschke on July 8, 1950, and they had two sons, Christopher and Mark. They lived in Wilburton and Little Downham before moving to Ely. There they started the City Cycle Centre at 7 Market Street, Ely, the site of the old post office which they purchased in 1970. Kathleen was well known to everyone in the city and surrounding area.

She is survived by her husband, sons and two grandchildren, Oliver and Adam.
