OBITUARY: Dorothy Joan Lockwood

Dorothy Joan Lockwood, who lived and worked in Ely before moving to Norwich, passed away on July 4 at the age of 96.
She leaves her daughters Rosalind and Jane, three grandchildren, six great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren.
Dorothy was born in Birmingham where she was brought up by her grandparents as her father died of TB in an isolation hospital after serving in Iraq during the First World War.
She joined the Women’s Royal Naval Service and during the Second World War she met her husband to be, Jack, who was serving in the RAF when they were both stationed in Great Yarmouth. They married in 1943.
While she lived in Ely she worked at the pathology laboratory at the then RAF hospital. Dorothy loved being in her garden and was a keen seamstress as well as enjoying knitting for her grandchildren.
Her funeral takes place at St Faith’s Crematorium, Horsham St Faiths on July 21 at 11am.
