Arthur Leslie Fletcher, of Parsons Lane, Littleport, died peacefully at his daughter's home at Eastfields, Littleport, on December 14, aged 85. Just before World War Two, Arthur joined the navy becoming a stoker petty officer.
Arthur was born in Littleport and spent 30 years working at Ely Sugar Beet Factory. When the factory closed he became caretaker at Littleport Primary School until he retired.
He was married to Eva for 38 years until she died in 1980. His second marriage was to Lily who passed away in 1997.
Arthur was a committee member of the Littleport Society, retiring due to ill health, he was also a member of the Littleport Leisure Centre and was the eldest member of The Under 100's until the class closed down.
Arthur is survived by his son Keith, daughters Rosalind and Trina, step-son Alan and step-daughter Carol, six grandchildren, two step grandchildren and four great-grandchildren
