SUTTON Primary School's year-long programme of food-related activities has earned the school a top national Healthy Eating award.

The school's health co-ordinator, Sarah Macer, said: "The project was launched with a whole day dedicated to increasing the pupils' staff and parents' awareness of how we can make our school a healthier place to be. "We've created a packed lunch recipe book, and tasting sessions for parents and children. The children thoroughly enjoyed taking part in the project."

"There were no parents shoving chips and burgers through the railings, all the parents were really supportive of the project," said Miss Macer. Children are bringing in star fruits, pomegranates and dried fruits for snacks.
