MAGISTRATES dismissed charges of assault and criminal damage facing 28-year-old Allan Devonshire after deciding there was no case for him to answer.

Devonshire, of Downing Court, Swaffham Bulbeck, had earlier denied assaulting Leanne Harding in Burwell on August 8, and causing damage to a £14.95 pendulum clock.

The trial was stopped at Ely courthouse on Thursday after solicitor Michael Judkins successfully persuaded magistrates that no case had been made against him.
