Niamh Gilbert, a year 10 student at Soham Village College, has created a new Logo for the school’s additional needs department also known as ‘The Hub’.

Over 20 GCSE graphics students entered the competition run by the new director of learning support, Adam Roberts, who felt the department needed a new identity.

The finalists’ designs were then voted for by the school’s staff and Niamh’s was the clear favourite.

Mr Roberts said: “The logo perfectly represents what we do in the Hub; care, nurture and support our students.’I especially love how Niamh came up with the idea of the tree using the people as the trunk.”

The logo has now been rolled out across the department and is used on all correspondence. The latest use for it was when a local company were asked to create two metre high vinyl stickers for the walls of the department welcoming visitors to the Hub.

Niamh said: “It’s great to see my design all over the school and I’m excited to think that my logo will leave an imprint on the school even after I have left.”
