An East Cambs village has a new sign following a special unveiling at the weekend.
Mike Rouse who attended the event said there was a great turn out from villagers to see Professor Ottoline Leyser unveil the sign created in honour of her late father Stephen Day, who was a member of the village committee, which is aiming to create a village green on the land off Putney Hill.
The sign which features a horse and plough representing the village’s long history of holding ploughing competitions, was made by Peter Baker of Steel Dreams with Mark Morley of Morley Brothers.
Mike added: “Well done Ed Rice, the village committee, all the supporters and Ely City Council. East Cambridgeshire Council was represented by Councillor Lis Every while the mayor Councillor Richard Hobbs and fellow ward member was on another civic engagement. Both councils have worked with the village committee to make this happen.”
