A developer has submitted plans for 20 new boat moorings on a major river in East Cambridgeshire.
Andrew Dilley is seeking planning permission from East Cambridgeshire District Council to constrict 10 leisure moorings and 10 residential moorings near the River Lark, in Isleham.
The development will consist of several steel pontoons that will provide a mooring point and access to electricity for boaters. There will also be car parking facilities and landscaping areas constructed as part of the plans.
Next Phase Development, the agents acting for Mr Dilley, said: “There is significant demand for, and limited supply of, residential moorings across the UK waterway network specifically identified in the locality of the site.
“The proposed development aims to provide moorings for an identified need in the area.”
The agents said the moorings would bring more money from tourism into the area, provide greater access to the River Lark and would also improve habitat for wildlife.
