A national report has declared that East Cambridgeshire District Council's financial management arrangements are 'consistently above minimum standards and performing well'.

The Audit Commission report judges how district councils manage and use their financial resources to support their strategic priorities and deliver value for money. It confirmed East Cambridgeshire had a 'three' rating which means the Council is 'performing well' in each of the following five areas: financial reporting, financial management, financial standing, internal control and value for money.

Alex Colyer, East Cambridgeshire District Council's finance director, said: "It is always good to have your work recognised nationally and my team deserve the praise for the hard work they have put in to maintain such high standards.

"It is now our aim to continue to strengthen our performance and to meet the highest standards where it is appropriate and cost effective to do so.
