The Olive Tree Fellowship in Ely has changed its name to Ely City Church - and an official ceremony was held at the weekend to mark the occasion.

The Mayor of Ely Lis Every attended the event, held on Saturday, as well as local councillors and Pastor Billy Onen.

“Fantastic afternoon as we celebrated the birthday and launch of ECC,” wrote the church on social media.

“An honour to have the Mayor of the city of Ely and other councillors, most of our pastors from our sister churches in UK and all our families and friends come along.

“It was such an awesome time, great to see you and thank you for standing with us,” the post added.

“But more importantly, thank you to all who made it happy.

“Without you we could not have made it happen. You are awesome all of you.”

The church holds a youth club, soup kitchens, life groups and parent and baby events.

Ely City Church says it is ‘passionate to create a true worship culture, where we gather together to experience communion with God the Father, Son and Holy Spirit. This will enable us to co-operate with one another in creating a personal worship space’.
