STRETHAM murderer Rekha Kumari-Baker could be back before the High Court if she does not pay her outstanding court costs, a judge said last week.

Cambridgeshire District Judge Ken Sheraton told Kumari-Baker, who is serving a double life sentence for murdering her two teenage daughters in 2007, that she had 14 days to respond to demands to pay 27,500 in costs still outstanding from her murder trial.

He said that if no response was received within a fortnight then matters would be proceed directly to the High Court in London.

Appearing via video link from HMP Peterborough, Kumari-Baker told Judge Sheraton that she would be taking further instruction from her legal team before she would respond.

The 43-year-old, dressed in a prison issue blue t-shirt, also requested that she receive a record of the hearing in writing but she was refused by the judge.

Kumari-Baker stabbed daughters Davina, 16, and Jasmine, 13, a total of 69 times while they slept in their beds at their family home in Stretham with kitchen knives she had purchased two days earlier. At her trial it emerged that she had carried out the horrific attacks in order to ‘wreak havoc’ on her ex-husband, though she denied murder.
