A VERY special guest joined eight St Mary’s School pupils for lunch on the High Table on Friday

Jim Paice MP was invited by the school to attend the meal for pupils who have been specially selected for their good behaviour throughout the week.

The scheme, which runs every Friday lunchtime, is one way in which the school encourages good behaviour throughout the week. Children who are deemed to have behaved well or been kind to others, get the honour of dining on the High Table where they enjoy waiter service.

The good behaviour lunch has been running for more than two years and the children are chosen by the midday supervisor. The chosen, of any age, can pick a friend to go with them on the table. Usually the special guests are chosen from the community and could be anyone, from club leaders to someone’s granny.

Jim Paice has been a guest at the lunch a few times and he said: “This scheme is a fantastic example of encouraging good behaviour rather than simply discouraging bad behaviour.”
