A motorist who “struck a large object” on the A142 near Soham on March 1 had a lucky escape.

Police attended a call from a member of public at 8.30pm and found a large metal ‘foot’, which would usually be used to stabilise vehicles, lying in the road.

“Thankfully no-one was hurt during the incident,” said a police spokesman.

“It serves as a reminder to all road users to keep their eyes open to road debris and to ensure that any loads they may be carrying are well secured.”
