MOTORIST Shane Avis refused to hang around to collect a parking ticket, after being caught with his 4x4 vehicle on zig-zag lines alongside a pedestrian crossing

Avis told a police community support officer: "I have not got time for this, send it in the post," and drove off.

At Ely courthouse on Thursday, 35-year-old Avis admitted obstructing the officer, and parking an Isuzu Trooper illegally on a pedestrian crossing on Soham High Street on May 21.

He was fined a total of £200, with £60 costs and a £15 surcharge, and three points were endorsed on his licence.

Solicitor Adam Haselhurst said: "He says the PCSO was very rude to him, and shouted at him. He did not want an argument, so took the decision to drive off. He believed he would get notification in the post.
