A MOTORIST suffered serious injuries after a car overturned in Ely on Saturday.
Ambulance and fire crews were called to Angel Drove, near Ely Railway Station, shortly before 6.30pm after reports that a Nissan MPV had overturned in the street.
Fire-fighters from Ely, Littleport and Cambridge attended the scene and released a motorist from the car using specialist cutting equipment.
The casualty was then transferred to an ambulance and rushed to Addenbrooke’s Hospital in Cambridge with what police described as “serious injuries.”
The road was closed for about two hours while emergency crews cleared the scene, finally reopening to traffic at about 8.30pm.
