YOUNG mother Sally Kent was stopped by police for drink-driving after CCTV operators raised concerns about her driving.

Kent, 21, had driven from her home in Foxwood South, Soham, into Ely to pick up her friends, a court heard.

When they met she drank two pints of lager and was filmed by CCTV returning to her car in the city's Cathedral car park.

Police were alerted and at 1.45am on Saturday they stopped Kent and breathalysed her. She was found to have 46 microgrammes of alcohol in 100 mililitres of breath.

Kent admitted drink-driving and driving with a provisional licence when she appeared before Ely Magistrates Court on Tuesday.

Mitigating, Adam Hazlehurst told the court: "Mrs Kent rather foolishly went to pick up her friends from Ely and had two drinks of lager. It is quite a low reading.

"She was learning to drive with her estranged husband and was hoping to take her test. But that will have to go on the back burner for now."

Kent was banned from driving for 12 months and fined £110. She was ordered to pay £35 costs and warned that when she gets a full driving licence it will be endorsed.
