The mother of two teenage sisters found dead at their Stretham home on Wednesday morning has been charged with murdering them.

Rekha Kumari-Baker, 39, of the Crofters, appeared before Cambridgeshire magistrates sitting at Peterborough Magistrates Court on Saturday morning. She faces two counts of murder.

Mrs Kumari-Baker, dressed all in grey, spoke only to confirm her name and address.

She was remanded in custody and will appear before Cambridgeshire Crown Court on Friday, June 22.

Mrs Kumari-Baker was arrested at her home on Wednesday shortly after 8am after police were called to the house and discovered the bodies of her daughters Davina, aged 16 and Jasmine aged 14.

A post mortem examination later revealed that both the girls had died from multiple stab wounds.
