THE Cherry Hinton Lions Club presented a cheque for £200 to the appeal. They raised the money by organising various football competitions during a two-day event held in Cambridge.

David King is running the Grunty Fen Half Marathon on Sunday to raise money for the appeal. If you want to sponsor David, go to www,justgiving.com or sponsor forms are at the Ely Standard at 38 Market Street, Ely. He has raised just over £1,000 as we went to press.

A bingo session is being held at the Hiams Sports and Social Club in Prickwillow on September 17. Doors open at 7pm and eyes down at 8pm.

Mark Palmer, from Soham, raised £400 from a sponsored cycle ride.
