There are long delays on the Norwich to Cambridge line after a person was hit by a train at a Cringleford level crossing today.

British Transport Police said they were called to the line at 10.31am.

The East of England Ambulance Service also attended and the person was pronounced dead at the scene.

The police spokesman said: “The incident is not being treated as suspicious, and officers are now working to identify the deceased and inform their family.”

Abellio Greater Anglia have said that the Norwich to Cambridge line is now re-open following the incident but services are subject to long delays.

Replacement bus services are running between Thetford and Norwich and the First Group will accept train tickets on their 13B service between Norwich and Attleborough.
