No documents

THE driver of a car that ran out of petrol between Soham and Fordham had none of the necessary motoring documents.

Police spotted Arnaldo Soares using his mobile phone, standing alongside his G-registered Volkswagen Golf on the A142, Ely magistrates were told.

At the city courthouse on Thursday, 42-year-old Soares admitted having no insurance, MoT or licence on September 29 last year.

The Turners employee already had nine points endorsed on his licence, for three offences of speeding.

He was banned from driving for six months and fined a total of £400 with £35 costs.

Driver not found

MOTORING charges facing 23-year-old Jamie Bramley were withdrawn at Ely courthouse on Thursday, after magistrates heard that police had been unable to trace him.

Bramley, whose address on the court list was in Lynn Road, Chettisham, had been accused of driving without insurance or MoT certificate, and failing to produce both those documents and his licence to police.

Youth court move

TWO teenagers charged with committing a burglary in Soham have had their case adjourned to a hearing before Cambridge youth court.

The boys, aged 15 and 13, are alleged to have stolen cash and credit cards worth £900 from a dwelling in Frank Bridges Close on January 30.

Burglary denied

AN allegation of burglary has been denied by Barway man Ian Fenn.

Fenn, 25, of Fenfields, is alleged to have stolen Playstation equipment worth £792 from a property in Mereside at Soham on January 8. Ely magistrates decided he should be tried at Cambridge Crown Court, and adjourned the case for a committal hearing on March 22. He was given conditional bail.

Transit man fined

A FINE of £200 was imposed on Wilburton man John Upton when he admitted driving a Ford Transit van without insurance.

Upton, 24, of Whitecross Road, also had six points endorsed on his licence and must pay £35 costs.

Upton committed the offence in Church Road at Wentworth. He told Ely magistrates he had used the uninsured van because his car had broken down.

Vehicle hit wall

A CAR collided with a wall in Littleport after driver Adam Pagram drove out in front of the vehicle.

Pagram appeared before Ely magistrates on Thursday, when he admitted driving carelessly on July 9 last year.

He had driven out of Church Lane into the path of a vehicle driving along Parsons Lane, said prosecutor Matthew Bradbury.

The second vehicle braked, collided with Pagram's Renault Megane, and ended up hitting a wall.

After the court saw a photograph of the damaged wall, Pagram, 36, of Longfield Road, Littleport, was given an absolute discharge. Three points were endorsed on his licence and he must pay £25 costs.

Case dismissed

AN assault charge facing Ely woman Susan Statham was dismissed by city magistrates on Thursday, after the Crown Prosecution Service offered no evidence against her.

Statham, 20, of New Barns Avenue, had previously denied assaulting Steven Peachey in Ely on December 12.

Assault charge

PRICKWILLOW man Gareth Coleman faced a charge of assault when he appeared before Ely magistrates on Thursday.

Coleman, 25, of Main Street, is alleged to have assaulted Andrew King in Ely on February 4. The case was adjourned for two weeks and he was granted unconditional bail.
