# Soldier admits driving offence

A SOLDIER who ploughed into the back of queuing traffic at Stretham roundabout has admitted driving without due care and attention. Robbie Warriner was driving a Nissan Primera when he hit the back of a Vauxhall Astra, causing damage and injury to the driver.

Appearing before Ely magistrates on Thursday, Warriner, 20, of Abbey Place, Waterbeach, was fined £150, with £35 costs and five points were endorsed on his licence.

# Warrant for no-show

ELY magistrates issued a warrant for the arrest of Littleport woman Aimee Cornwell this week, when she failed to attend the city courthouse. Cornwell, 23, of Fenland Court, was due to be sentenced after admitting possessing drugs and stealing a 40 pence bag of sweets.

Cornwell was found with methadone, diazepam, temazepam, and morphine on March 30. She stole a bag of Maltesers from One Stop in Littleport on March 9.

# Sentencing adjourned

THE sentencing of Littleport man Adrian Powell, who has admitted stealing a total of £650, was adjourned for a further four weeks by Ely magistrates on Thursday.

Powell, 32, of Station Road, has admitted stealing £200 from The Royal Bank of Scotland Group, NatWest Bank on April 17 and stealing another £250 and £200 from the bank on April 22.

# Trial date change

A SUTTON man who has denied driving while unfit through drugs had the date of his trial changed by Ely magistrates this week.

Carl Bond, 24, of The Brook, was originally due to face the court on October 19, but because some witnesses were unavailable, the hearing will now be held on November 2.
