# A DRIVER who collided with a car on the A10 at Stretham, knocking it into a ditch, has admitted careless driving.

Tristran Karam hit the back of a white Honda that was in slowing traffic on April 19, Ely magistrates were told on Thursday.

The driver of the Honda suffered a whiplash injury, but children in the back of the car were unhurt.

The court decided that Karam, 27, of Beche Way, Landbeach, may be banned from driving, so adjourned sentencing for him to attend court on November 9.

# THE trial of Witchford man Barry Watson is ready to go ahead on October 28, city magistrates were assured this week.

Watson, 33, of Orton Drive, has denied assaulting James Bissett in Littleport on January 8.

# A THEFT charge facing Ely woman Tracey Hall was adjourned for two weeks at the city courthouse on Thursday, and she was given unconditional bail.

Hall, 44, of Windmill Close, is accused of stealing a Halina camera worth £9.99 from Lloyds Pharmacy in Ely on September 28.

# A WARRANT without bail was issued for the arrest of Reginald Earwaker on Thursday, when he failed to turn up at Ely courthouse.

Earwaker, 49, of West Drive Gardens, Soham, is accused of riding a motorcycle while disqualified and without insurance at Ely Road, Littleport, on May 28.

# AMERICAN serviceman William Surface was fined £130 for speeding by Ely magistrates this week, and four points were put on his UK driving record.

Surface, 36, of Ely Road, Stretham, admitted driving a Saab vehicle at 43mph in Elizabeth Way, Cambridge, on February 25, when a 30 mph speed limit was in force.

# FINES and costs totalling £110 were imposed on Witchford man David Powell when he admitted using a motorcycle without an MoT certificate.

Powell, 34, of Meadow Close, committed the offence when riding a Yamaha Virago in West Fen Road, Ely, on April 28. He told Ely magistrates he had lost the certificate.

# SCHOOL teacher Robert Hancock has admitted an offence of speeding, and on Thursday Ely magistrates fined him £60.

Forty-seven-year-old Hancock, of Alexander Chase, Ely, was caught by a speed camera as he drove a Peugeot vehicle at 41mph in Elizabeth Way, Cambridge, on February 12, breaking the 30mph speed limit.

He has an Australian driving licence, but his UK driving record was endorsed with three points.
