Denies attack on landlord

A MAN who has denied assaulting John Borland, landlord of The Fountain pub in Ely, had his case adjourned for two weeks by city magistrates this week.

Dean Gray, 32, of Silver Street, Ely, is alleged to have assaulted Mr Borland in Ely on July 26. He was given conditional bail until October 26, when the date of his trial is due to be set.

Cash theft

A TEENAGER has admitted stealing £220 in cash from Rosedale Children's Services in Coveney on April 4.

The 16-year-old, who lives in Bedford, appeared before Ely Youth Court on Thursday, when he was remitted for sentencing at Bedford Youth Court.

Fare pair

TWO men accused of failing to pay the correct rail fare in Ely are being prosecuted by British Transport Police.

Jonathan Hoorspool, 20, and Martin Burke, 19, both of Birmingham, are charged with proceeding on the railway beyond the distance of the fare they had paid. Their case was adjourned for three weeks by Ely magistrates on Thursday.
