Driver gets six points added

A DRIVER involved in a road accident in Littleport has admitted driving without due care and attention, and having no insurance.

Levi Wright, 22, failed to stop behind stationary traffic at the junction of the A1101 and the A10 on February 3, and hit the rear of a waiting car.

He told police that his wheels locked when he braked, and was unable to stop in time.

Wright, of Perse Way, Cambridge, was fined a total of £130 with £35 costs and his licence was endorsed with six points.

Failure to keep appointment leads to delay in case

ELY man Neil Garner could not be sentenced for an offence of assault this week because he had failed to keep his appointment with the probation officer who was due to write a report on him.

On Thursday, city magistrates had to adjourn his case for a further four weeks.

Garner, 33, of New Barns Avenue, has admitted assaulting Nicola McManus in the city on November 18 last year. He is due back in court on June 22.

Charges dismissed due to no evidence

ASSAULT and criminal damage charges denied by Littleport man Kelly Wilkin were dismissed by Ely magistrates on Thursday, when the Crown Prosecution Service offered no evidence against him.

Wilkin, 31, of Peacock Way, had denied assaulting Emma Yaxley on February 9, and damaging her plug socket and glass worth £100. He was due to face trial on Thursday.

Speeder fined and gets three points

SPEEDER Aaron Dickerson was fined £60 by Ely magistrates on Thursday after he admitted driving a goods vehicle at 76 mph on the A14 at Catworth.

Dickerson, 23, of High Street, Soham, was also ordered to pay £42 costs and three points were endorsed on his driving licence.

Driver warned ban may be in offing

LIAN Broker was warned by magistrates that he faces a driving ban after admitting he drove without insurance.

Broker, 21, of Fishers Bank, Littleport, committed the offence in Ely Road at Littleport on January 28.

Sentencing was adjourned until June 15, for him to attend Ely courthouse.

Theft denied

THE trial of Ely woman Tracey Hall is ready to go ahead on June 15 at the city courthouse, magistrates were assured this week.

Hall, of Windmill Close, has denied making off without paying for £7.50 worth of petrol in Ely on January 13.

Assault denied

THE trial of Michael Shrubb, who has denied an allegation of assault, is due to take place at Ely courthouse on August 10.

Shrubb, 35, of Basildon, Essex, is accused of assaulting Nancy Shrubb in Haddenham on February 22.

Trial date set

THE trial of Soham man Ricky Attlesey has been set for June 29, and will be held at Ely courthouse.

Attlesey, 42, of High Street, has denied assaulting Jennifer Chandler in Soham on March 18.
