Speeding motorist 'didn't see police'
FORMER Ely man Jamie Watson failed to see police who tried to stop him after he was seen speeding through the city, magistrates heard last Thursday.
Watson, 20, formerly of Carey Close in Ely but now living in Cambridge, admitted driving at 45mph in Cambridge Road, which has a 30 mph speed limit, and failing to stop for police on October 16 last year.
Writing to the court, Watson apologised for his actions and said he had panicked and stopped 300 yards along the road.
"I didn't realise they wanted me to go back," he said.
FINGERPRINTS were found in a car targeted by thief Aurimas Kyliokas - and last Wednesday he handed himself into the police.
On Thursday, Kyliokas appeared before Ely magistrates, when he admitted stealing a CD player from Tony Wilson's car in the city on September 4 last year.
The case against Kyliokas, 23, of Beech Grove, Hull, was adjourned for him to appear before Wisbech magistrates yesterday (Wednesday).
Arrest warrant issued
A WARRANT was issued for the arrest of Ely man Sean Bond when he failed to turn up at the city courthouse on Thursday.
Bond, of Evans Close, is accused of intimidating a witness by making threats on March 25.
THE sentencing of Sutton man Robert Smith has been adjourned for a further three weeks by Ely magistrates.
Smith, 34, of Ryemanmoore Drove, has admitted driving while disqualified and without insurance or an MoT certificate on the A142 at Witchford on February 24.
