LITTLEPORT man Joao Laureano could not be sentenced for driving while disqualified this week, because he had missed his appointment with the probation officer assigned to preparing a report for Ely magistrates.
He failed to meet the officer because he had gone to work instead, explained solicitor Jacqui Baldwin. Laureano had been offered work, and because he and his family were in financial difficulties, he decided that was more important.
Last month, 26-year-old Laureano, of Wood Fen Road, had
admitted driving a Peugeot 106 in Parsons Lane at Littleport on
July 12, when banned from driving, and using the car without insurance.
He had also admitted that the offences put him in breach of a 12-month conditional discharge.
The court agreed to adjourn the case for another four weeks for the report to be prepared.
