LUCKY Lauren Butcher escaped with only bruising after she was cut free from her car following a crash in Littleport on Saturday.

Miss Butcher, 19, was driving in Littleport High Street on Saturday morning when her car suddenly spun off the road and crashed head-on into a wall, damaging her Mini beyond repair.

"It was absolutely devastating for her," her father Philip Butcher said yesterday.

"We still don't know how it happened."

Fire crews used specialist equipment to cut Lauren from the wreckage, fearing that she could be seriously injured.

"Lauren had a very lucky escape," Mr Butcher said, "It was horrifying."

Miss Butcher was taken to Addenbrooke's Hospital in Cambridge after suffering bruising to her feet, toes and chest, but escaped without more serious injury.
