CHILDREN at Millfield Primary School collected more than 300 pairs of shoes as part of an appeal for children in Malawi.
The Littleport school smashed its target to collect 100 pairs of shoes for the Blue Peter Shoe Biz appeal thanks to the efforts of its Year 6 pupils, who put up posters in local shops and organised collections at friends' and families' workplaces for the old shoes.
All of the shoes collected will be sold on for recycling to raise money for children in Malawi, many of whom are orphans.
"We couldn't move in our class for shoes," said teacher Caroline Stamp-Dod.
Oak Class also held a "wear your wellies" day to raise more money for the appeal.
