MIGRANT workers attracted by agricultural labour in East Cambridgeshire could be seeking employment further afield, according to a report published by the Office of National Statistics.

The report suggests that workers from the new European Union member states, known as the A8, are increasingly seeking work in other parts of the country.

According to the report, East Cambs is still in the top 10 local authorities with the most A8 nationals, with more than 3,000 foreign nationals working here.

Seasonal workers provide much of the workforce for local agricultural companies, with more than 2,000 working in the agricultural sector. Currently, around 1300 Lithuanian and Polish nationals are employed by G's of Ely.
