CAROL Gilbey welcomed everyone to the meeting on Wednesday, November 15. Carol gave out the announcements before introducing Gordon and Dilys Linsell from Fairtrade. Dilys organised a short quiz about Fairtrade and this was followed by a short talk about the wide variety of products sold under the Fairtrade mark. The Fairtrade mark is an independent consumer label, which appears on products as a guarantee that disadvantaged farmers and workers in the developing world are getting a better deal. There are more than one thousand products that carry the Fairtrade mark and they can be found in many supermarkets, local stores, cafes, restaurants, health food and fair trade shops. A wide variety of items were on display and available to purchase. Carol thanked Dilys and Gordon on behalf of the members. Mrs Palmer offered prayers and members joined in the singing of the vespa. The next meeting will be a Christmas party on Wednesday, December 20.
