SUNDAY'S service was taken by Dave Hollingsworth, from West Bergolt, an old friend of the youth group here in Haddenham. The church had been beautifully decorated with spring flowers by Sheila Mackie Bailey and the stewards were Audrey and Eric Hopwood. The theme of Dave's message was 'the mother church' and he told the youngsters of the origin of Mothering Sunday together with the history of Christianity, by walking around the building with Shell group members Heidi and Freya, who later distributed posies to all present.

These had been prepared by Barbara Galley, and a collage was made by the girls creating called 'beauty out of chaos'.

Reminders were given by Ron Bloye that a film evening is to be held tomorrow (Friday) at 7.30pm, when local historian Mike Petty will 'relive' the 1947 floods and show 'new' photos taken of that event locally.

Next Sunday, the Haddenham congregation will worship with the Sutton Methodists and the following Sunday both Methodists and Baptists will worship together in the Church on the Green. A warm invitation is extended to all readers.
