TWO very christmassy events were held the weekend before Christmas; on Saturday evening Haddenham Singers, conducted by Cathy Priestley, gave a wonderful selection of carols, accompanied by Rebecca Weaver on the key board. Soloist was Ian Priestley and the audience, though not large, made a joyful rendition of the congregational hymns. Those present, included four choir conductors; Audrey Hopwood, who led the first Haddenham Singers in the sixties; Audrey Genders who conducted them in the recent past; George Shearing, who for more than 40 years had a choir in Norfolk, and the former organist of Holy Trinity who now lives at Warboys.

After coffee and mince pies, it was decided to send a cheque for £75 to EACH in appreciation of the time and effort put in by choir members and caterers to make the evening so enjoyable.

On Sunday morning, the shell group was centre-stage with its presentation of the Wise Man Chant, guitar-accompanied songs and other seasonal contributions; those taking part were: Heidi Pate, Freya Perry, Rachael Frost, and Sam Gooby; the group meets each fortnight and is organised by Kate Hopkinson, Sheila Mackie Bailey and Barbara Galley.

The last Sunday of 2006, the preacher will be Anthony Murfitt from Littleport and the first Sunday in 2007 congregations from the Ely circuit will take the annual covenant service at Ely Methodist Church in Chapel Street, Ely at 10.30am.
