IT was a very busy weekend at the church. On Friday evening, members of the Shell Group made animals from vegetables and decorated the window sills with them; at 7.30am the following morning Win Moore began her flower and fruit arrangements and at 3.30pm that afternoon the church was filled with friends and guests for the wedding of Lisa Andrews, from Ely.

An early start was made on Sunday morning when Barbara Galley, Sheila Mackie Bailey and Betty White prepared lunch for more than 20 members of the congregation; the harvest festival service was taken by the Rev Watts from Ely and the organist was Lorna Delanoy; one of the Shell Group boys, Samuel Gooby from Sutton, helped the minister and also took up the offering with Eric Hopwood.

The theme of the service was sharing the world's resources and after communion the harvest lunch was enjoyed; a special welcome was given to Joan Wood, who had returned home last week from a long stay in hospital.

The service on Sunday will be taken by Beth Hartley and the organist will be Audrey Hopwood.
