CAMPAIGNERS determined to see the back of plans for new eco-town Mereham, are hoping they can fight off the latest application from developers at the Regional Assembly.

Despite a year-long battle that succeeded in having original plans for the controversial town thrown out, campaigners are facing a fresh battle after project planners Barton Wilmore, re-submitted the plans to the East of England Regional Assembly (EERA)

The new plans, which have been altered to appease concerns raised by the Secretary of State, are set to go before the EERA in July and campaigners are hoping they can help to get the plans dismissed for a second time.

Spearhead of the 'Say No to Mereham' campaign Cllr Bill Hunt, said: "We won a major victory but we need to continue to be vigilant against the wishes of major developers. I will continue to fight any plans that try to resurrect Mereham.
