A head teacher from Mepal was a special guest at a book launch at the Houses of Parliament.

Louise Lomax, from Mepal and Witcham primary was invited to London in recognition of the work she is doing in her school to tackle inclusion.

She was invited to the launch of Narrowing the Attainment Gap – a new book by Daniel Sobel, a leading expert in the field of inclusion.

Also there was Sarah Conant, the Diocese of Ely Multi-Academy Trust director of school effectiveness, and fellow DEMAT head teacher Dan Doud from William de Yaxley Primary.

Daniel Sobel has worked closely with both schools, and the trust, to support their work to improve the progress of vulnerable children.

His books is designed to support school leaders in understanding and reducing the attainment gap in their schools.

Drawing on research and extensive experience he examines the barriers schools face when trying to tackle inclusion.

The book provides hands-on, practical guidance to enable every school leader to develop their own solutions to meet the needs of their community.
