Radio presenter Jeremy Sallis will be hosting the 2015 Ely Standard East Cambridgeshire Business Awards at the prestigious ceremony at Ely Cathedral on Friday October 2.
Born and raised in the Fens, Jeremy Sallis grew up as a farmer’s son in the shadow of Ely Cathedral.
After knocking on the door and asking for a job in 2001, Jez has worked as a radio presenter for BBC Radio Cambridgeshire in Cambridge for almost 15 years where he’s had the chance to share his passion for the local area.
He’s presented almost every show on the station in that time, including the flagship Cambridgeshire Breakfast Show for six years.
As a keen champion of local industry, he created the Workplace Wednesday feature, going behind the scenes of Cambridgeshire business.
Usually on air from noon on Lunchtime Live, he’s currently working on a documentary project, making half hour radio documentaries and pieces for Look East and BBC online.
The first of which was marking the incredible sacrifice of the Cambridgeshire men who fought and served as prisoners of war in the Far East ahead of the 70th anniversary of VJ Day.
For fans of EastEnders, he can often be seen each week after the “boom, boom, booms”, popping up on the side of the television screen presenting the regional 8pm news bulletins on BBC One.
Jez is no stranger to hosting and compering events, from welcoming the arrival of the Olympic torch in front of a crowd of 40,000 people in Cambridge, to launching the wonderful Soham-based charity, the Liam Fairhurst Foundation at Downing Street.
A local charity close to his heart, and one which has thrived thanks to the generosity of local businesses.
