Mary Berry, queen of baking, visited St Mary’s Church to share cake-related stories, sign copies of her new book ‘Foolproof Cooking’ and enjoy some tea and cake on Friday afternoon.

The event, which sold-out well in advance, was organised by Topping & Company Booksellers.

“We had a full church and Mary was in good form,” said Stuart Havis, of Topping’s Ely, who organised the visit.

“Everyone really seemed to enjoy themselves.

“We had as many people as the church could fit and Mary was very pleased with the amount of people who came.”
