AWARD-winning Journalist, ex-MP and UNICEF ambassador Martin Bell is coming to Ely to give an insight into his varied career in the public eye.

Mr Bell famously ousted Conservative MP Neil Hamilton from his safe seat in Cheshire, by standing as an anti-corruption candidate in the 1997 election after spending years reporting from war zones for the BBC and is now working as an ambassador for UNICEF.

He will begin the evening at the Hayward Theatre with a talk, then take questions and answers from the audience after a musical interlude from singer songwriter Joanna Eden.

Will Mr Bell turn up wearing his trademark sleaze-proof white suit? If you would like to quiz him on Saturday, October 13, from 7.30pm, tickets are available from the Rotary Club, priced at £12, to include a glass of wine on arrival. Group tickets for a table of 10 are available for £108 with all profits from the event going towards the club's national and international work. Email rotary_information@yahoo.co.uk for more details.
