A funding boost of £37,886 from WREN has been awarded to the new community and sports centre being built in Marshland St James.
The money, awarded by WREN’s FCC Community Action Fund, will be used to fund kitchen, tables and chairs, hand dryers and audio visual equipment at the Marshland Hall on Smeeth Road.
Hall spokesman, John Askew, said: This project will provide a real boost to the people of Marshland St James and surrounding area.
“It’s fantastic that WREN has awarded us this money and we’re really looking forward to our Community Centre completing over the next few weeks.”
WREN is a not-for-profit business that awards grants for community, biodiversity and heritage projects from funds donated by FCC Environment through the Landfill Communities Fund.
Penny Beaumont, WREN grant manager, says: “We’re delighted to be supporting the Marshland Hall fixtures and fittings project and we’re pleased our funding will make such a difference to so many lives within the Marshland St James parish and the nearby villages.
“WREN is always happy to consider grant applications for projects that benefit local communities and we’re looking forward to this one having a positive impact very soon.”
