Dan Regan, who works as a hypnotherapist in the city, is to take on the Grim Reaper Ultra Marathon in Lincolnshire on Friday July 29 and is hoping to raise £200 for MacMillan – the charity that supported his father before his death just under three years ago.

“I’m running for Macmillan for two reasons,” said Dan. “Firstly for all the help and support they gave us – and that they give thousands of others – when Dad had cancer, and secondly in memory of my Dad who died of cancer in November 2013.”

The mammoth challenge will see Dan traverse 40 miles of Lincolnshire terrain, and the determined runner has set himself an ambitious time to complete it in.

“I’m hoping to complete it in around eight hours, all being well,” he said. “It’s been a bit of a challenge as I missed the last six months of 2015 with an injury so I’ve basically started my training from scratch this year.”
