Man is charged with blackmail after officers in unmarked cars swoop

A 46-year-old man has been charged with blackmail following a dramatic arrest in Ely, on Friday.

Officers in two unmarked vehicles swooped on a car as it made its way along Market Street, at about 7.30pm.

Steven Bunting, 46, from High Barns, Ely, was arrested on suspicion of blackmail and later charged by officers.

He was remanded by magistrates after appearing at Cambridge Magistrates’ Court today (Monday).

He is due to attend Cambridge Crown Court on November 10 for a further hearing.
