A MAN died following a rush hour collision on the A1123 in Stretham on Tuesday.
A MAN died following a rush hour collision on the A1123 in Stretham on Tuesday.
The man, believed to be from Lincolnshire, was driving a blue Peugeot 206 on Newmarket Road when he was involved in the smash with a silver Ford Mondeo at about 5.30pm.
Despite frantic efforts to save the man, who has yet to be named by police, he was pronounced dead at Addenbrooke’s Hospital in Cambridge later that evening.
The man is expected to be formally identified today as investigations begin at the scene.
The driver of the Mondeo, a 33-year-old man from the Ely area, suffered minor injuries and was also taken to Addenbrooke’s Hospital for treatment.
Sgt Nigel Jennings of the Cambridgeshire Roads Policing Unit, said: “I would like to hear from anyone who was in the area at the time of the collision or saw either vehicle in the moments leading up to the incident.”
