A man appeared at crown court on Friday to face charges of defrauding businesses out of thousands of pounds.
Andrew Chatters, 38, stands accused of 16 counts of fraud, including against Ely-based building suppliers Jewson and Travis Perkins.
It is alleged that Chatters, of Main Street, Witchford, handed over cheques in the names of other people in an attempt to obtain thousands of pounds worth of goods and store credit.
It also alleged that, between February and March last year, Chatters used someone else’s credit card details to pay for the use of an executive box at Tottenham Hotspur Football Club – at a cost of more than £7,000.
Chatters also stands accused of a count of theft, whereby he is alleged to have stolen a Kubota truck worth £27,000 belonging to Newmarket Plant Hire.
The 38-year-old appeared at Cambridge Crown Court on Friday, for a preliminary hearing. He was subsequently released on bail and will appear again at the crown court on August 22 for a plea and case management hearing.
